The heart work of transforming lives

On the rare occasion, we would meet clients (in our residential projects) who compare us with housing contractors, or worse, cleaning services, or domestic helpers.  And it would just break our hearts.

The service we provide is a deeply personal one, much like an image consultant, a personal trainer, or a life coach.  Much like these people, we see all the ugly bits, literally.

And unlike housing contractors, cleaners and domestic helpers, whose job largely consists of handling things, we professional organizers are actually dealing with the person him/herself, rather than things.  Yes, we do handle things in the process, but the end goal isn't merely finding a storage location for the things, but transforming the person's relationship with his/her possessions.

And we do all that  - changing people plus ordering possessions - within a day, or maximum 3 days (per room).  That, dear readers, is a very tall order.

Life coaches and personal trainers get months and maybe even years to transform a person, but we only have that one session (or maximum three) to do the same.  It's definitely not an easy feat, even though it's doable.

An immense amount of heart work goes into our projects, plus a lot of hard work too.  Imagine sorting through dusty, neglected, dirty, crumbling, molding items that haven't been cared for by their owners for years or decades; and maybe even handling more than a few critters and their biological wastes.

We dare to touch things that no one wants to, things that maybe even their owners are afraid to confront, and give them a touch of love they haven't experienced for the longest time.  It is this love that changes the atmosphere in the room - from dull, dead air to refreshed, revitalized energy that brings life back into the room.  Or as one client put it - bringing a Febreeze-like sweet smell back.

So, if you see our crew around, show them some love and appreciation instead of comparing them to cleaners or contractors.  Know that we don't just order things - we transform and re-energize lives.
