ESTABLISHED in 1999, Taiwanese food specialist Tea Valley, a subsidiary of Daily Food Supplies, serves up a menu of authentic, traditional Taiwanese cuisine such as oyster noodles and braised pork rice.

When Tea Valley moved its office to Admiralty in December 2015, it needed a reliable business printer for printing and scanning documents.

“At our previous office that we shared with other companies, we were using a standalone office laser photocopier that was fast and reliable, with full printing and scanning capabilities,” says Mr Lawrence Lim, managing director of Daily Food Supplies.

“So, when we were looking for a new printer for our brand new office, we wanted a printer with similar capabilities and the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-5621 came to mind,” he adds.

Built to fulfil the printing needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the Epson WF-5621 business inkjet printer offers high page yields for enhanced business productivity and work efficiency.

At Daily Food Supplies, Mr Lim and his team of three employees rely on two units of the Epson WF-5621 for printing documents such as business forms and e-mails, mostly in colour. The firm’s print volume can reach up to 300 per month, Mr Lim says.

To help companies manage their printing costs, the Epson WF-5621 uses cartridges that reduce ink wastage – by allowing users to only replace cartridges that have been depleted. Each set of cartridges offers up to 4,000 pages in black or colour, minimising downtime needed to replace the cartridges.

When it comes to print speeds, the Epson WF-5621 is as fast as laser printers, Mr Lim says. That is because the printer is powered by Epson’s PrecisionCore printhead technology that was initially used for industrial-grade printing.

Now, Epson is increasingly introducing PrecisionCore technology for models such as the WF-5621 that cater to small business and office needs. The technology eliminates warm up time that is normally required in colour printers, thus maximising time efficiency.

Also, nozzles using PrecisionCore can efficiently and precisely deliver the most appropriate amount of ink to achieve highspeed, quality printing.

As a business productivity workhorse, the Epson WF-5621 also comes with automatic duplex printing, with print speeds of up to 11ipm for A4-size paper, as well as duplex scanning of multi-page documents.

“One of our reasons for choosing the WF-5621 is that the printer comes with an automatic document feeder (ADF) that allows us to do multi-page scanning of documents such as business agreements and bank statements, before saving them as PDF files. The scan quality is also up to our expectations,” Mr Lim says.

Plus, with the use of the rear tray, businesses can print with a range of media such as plain paper, thick paper, photo paper or envelopes. What’s more, they can easily increase paper capacity from 330 sheets to 580 sheets by adding an optional 250-sheet paper cassette, reducing time spent on replenishing paper.

Rounding up the productivity benefits of the WF-5621 is the range of connectivity options such as USB 2.0, Ethernet and Wi-Fi wireless printing, which Mr Lim and his team uses to print from anywhere in the office.

“By and large, the Epson WF-5621 meets our business needs. Although we don’t print huge volumes each month, it is a productive tool that helps in the running of our business,” Mr Lim says.
