EVORICH Managing Director Inspires Students and Viewers in The Straits Times’ “Samsengs Turned Towkays” Panel Discussion

EVORICH Group Managing Director Mr. Dennis Teo inspired students and viewers in the recently held panel discussion at the finale of The Straits Times – Ministry of Education National Current Affairs Quiz held at Raffles Institution.

Aptly themed “samsengs turned towkays”, The Straits Times senior writer Wong Kim Hoh invited Mr. Teo together with the founder of courier service company XDel – Mr. Harold Lee to recount their “ex-thug” experiences as youths and share their journey towards now becoming bosses of their own respective companies.

During the talk, Mr. Teo shared with the students the obstacles he faced during his growing up years with a dose of humour on his mischievous deeds. Kidding aside, Mr. Teo conveyed the significance of building resilience in everyone. This was supported by a genuine story of his adversity in building up the business and how he overcame the odds towards growing up a  flooring empire that has catered not only to Singapore homes but also the Asia Pacific region, and beyond.

Understanding that the event was a successful panel discussion, students were encouraged to ask any burning questions that they had for Mr. Teo and Mr. Lee. Among the students’ queries, Mr. Teo was asked on how he builds and maintains strong kinship within the company as part of business growth. To this, Mr. Teo insightfully shared two points:

1) The importance of having and following company values to guide the business; and

2) Despite busy schedules of being the Managing Director of EVORICH, to be able to find time to participate in important life milestones of every  EVORICH staff.

Closing the panel discussion, Mr. Teo was quoted “I am deeply appreciative of Wong Kim Hoh for this opportunity to share my insights of my growing up years. I truly hope that it has inspired students to pursue their goals.”

EVORICH continues to find new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) opportunities that can benefit the Singapore community. Stay tuned for our next CSR initiative!
