Purple and white incontestably form the perfect brew.

From the electronic colour code used in electronic components to indicate values or ratings, to coloured ribbons symbolising various causes (pink in support of those with breast cancer, purple for Alzheimer’s disease and white for violence against women), these are just a few examples of how powerful and essential colours are to mankind. They each hold different meanings that project certain characteristics unto those that carry them. Purple signifies royalty, purity, freshness and goodness.

Here’s an interesting question: what happens when you throw in concoction of both of these colours? White in its purest of forms as it takes the stage with both of these colours? White in its purest of forms as it takes the stage with the somewhat feminine touches of the colour purple, forming a rather interesting alliance any home would be proud to have. Although every known colour blends in excellently with white, purple has that added projection of a sweet, gentle feel. And yes, it is known to be feminine colour but using darker shades of purple against black brings out elements of masculinity. Purple is also pretty versatile and complements colours such as gold, lime green, silver, grey, black, pink, even yellow. It’s just a matter of pairing them up creatively. For instance, scattering some silver and white cushions on dark purple sofa forms one very elegant living room indeed.

Using purple wallpaper or paint for various sections of a home also makes an interesting concept. Be it in a simple coating of paint or a decorative walllpaper, you could single out a section to make it your feature wall. The sky’s the limit when it comes to playing around different shades of purple. A white dining set can be transformed into something a little more chic just by placing some lavender cushions on the chairs or throwing on a striking mauve table cloth. Even a colourful room dresses in fancy pink or green walls would be ideal for a purple and white lampshade. White and purple make an awesome team, giving homeowners a chance to venture out with their themes and designs.
