Flooring is key to any home renovating scheme and it can make a whole lot of difference to the apprearance of your living space. And when it comes to selecting the right floor treatment, there is quite a number of flooring types to choose from. Here's what you need to know:
Flooring type: Laminate Flooring
PROS: Laminates are known for their durability and easy maintenance. They are economical to replace, water-proof and resilient to daily wear such as scratches, food acids, grease and household chemicals.
CONS: Sometimes confused with their enineered wood counterparts, it is largely different in construction. Unlike hardwood, laminate is perceived to be of lower re-sale value and has a lower life expectancy. Once scratched, it cannot be repaired easily and can be discoloured by prolonged sunlight exposure, so you may need to replace the entire floor when it is deeply worn out.
MAINTENANCE: For daily cleaning, vacuum or wipe the floor with a damp cloth. If your floors are stained, remove them with household cleaning agents or acetone.
