28 January 2015 NBAS Luncheon Talk: How to handle the media, told by an insider

Organisations face a new and fast changing media landscape. Anyone's reputation can be put into the spotlight (negative or positive) within seconds. Technology is rapidly developing and the influence of social media channels increases. Bloggers and people on the street carry mobile devises that enables photos, film and sound of situations real time to be uploaded for a global audience within seconds.

To enlighten us on how to best manage media into positive relationships, NBAS has invited Are Slettan from Corporate Communications to discuss how some businesses thrive on media attention whilst others avoid it like the plague. In any case, how you handle the media in a critical situation could make or break your career or your company. Are will explain about the dynamics that drive the media, why businesses and journalists often fail to communicate, how we can frame our messages in a way that is suitable to the media and how we should write in order to connect with journalists.

Are Slettan is a partner with Corporate Communications AS. He has more than 20 years of media experience, for instance as the editor of Finansavisen (The Norwegian Financial Daily).
