Community Chest Pinnacle Award Recognises Panasonic's Efforts in Helping the Less Fortunate

Singapore, 25 September 2015 - Panasonic Industrial Devices Semiconductor Asia (PIDSCA) was one of four organisations awarded the Pinnacle Award by the Community Chest, commemorating over 20 years of support to the latter's SHARE (Social Help Assistance Raised by Employees) programme. The Pinnacle Award is the highest honour bestowed that night. Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, President of the Republic of Singapore, presented the award to PIDSCA Managing Director Yutaka Tanase.

PIDSCA's relationship with Community Chest goes back a long way even before participating in the SHARE programme more than 28 years ago. The decision to partner with Community Chest was attributed to both organisations' synonymous beliefs and values. At Panasonic, 'Contribution to Society' is one of its Basic Business Philosophies. The partnership enables Panasonic employees to reach out to the community and assist the less fortunate.

Support to Community Chest is not confined to just financial contribution. Staff are encouraged to organise events and extend a helping hand to the less privileged. In this way, they can experience the joy of giving. The company held handicraft sales and conducted visits to homes of the under privileged. It also held fund raising events to support the community.

MD Tanase commented he is heartened that PIDSCA employees' unwavering and consistent contribution to the SHARE programme is recognized. He added he is proud to work with such a great team in Singapore and will continue working together to contribute to society.

For new areas of involvement, PIDSCA is taking the “One Panasonic Approach”. What this means is employees from all the Panasonic Group Companies based in Singapore come together in meaningful societal contribution. Some activities include donation drive for disaster hit victims, tree planting, volunteer engagement for Heartland E-waste Recycling Programme, and internal eco-friendly initiatives such as the 10% Energy Saving Challenge.

This year, only two global companies were awarded - Sony Electronics and Panasonic Industrial Devices Semiconductor Asia.
