GREENVIEW LAUNCHES ‘GREEN LODGING SURVEY’ IN ASIA AS HOTEL INDUSTRY EMBRACES LANDMARK GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY STUDY

For Immediate Release 14 June, 2016

SINGAPORE: Leading travel and hospitality sustainability consultancy Greenview has launched the first ever Green Lodging Survey in Asia aimed at providing the industry with a clear report card to benchmark performance and catalyse greater innovation and best practices as the green debate takes centre stage in the region.

The global Green Lodging Survey is the world’s most significant and comprehensive hotel sustainability study to date as it aims to put down a marker for the industry with tens of thousands of hospitality groups and individual hotels expected to participate. Submission deadline is August 31 with results to be published in October 2016.

The survey is a complimentary service offered by Greenview, supported by launch partner Green Lodging News, to hotels and resorts worldwide whereby they are requested to answer a series of relevant questions. In return participants will receive a confidential report on their own performance as well as contribute to a fast growing movement in the hospitality industry that is putting sustainability at the top of the global travel and tourism agenda.

Data from 1,500 leading hotel brands in Asia in key hospitality markets are confirmed in the pioneering survey, with more expected, ensuring extensive input from organisations in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The survey is open to major international chains as well as independent, locally held brands in Asia who are driving hospitality innovation and growth in the region as they expand in their countries and outside of their borders.

“It is an exciting time for us,” said Greenview Founder and CEO Eric Ricaurte. “We started the sustainability conversation in Washington DC and are now bringing it to Asia where there is rapid growth and dynamism in the hospitality industry and a very clear need to address sustainability in hotels.

“The Green Lodging Survey will provide a benchmark for all hotels to see how they are doing and provide insights that will help them drive profitability, innovation, best practices and growth. More than this, the incredible engine room for global hospitality – which is based in Asia - will be a welcome part of a global movement as we address the most vital issue of our time.”

The Green Lodging Survey offers the only trends analysis of its kind worldwide, helping hotels benchmark where they stack up against their peers in implementing the latest practices in sustainable hospitality.

It goes beyond environmental efficiency to include community engagement and guest communications providing the hotel industry with an annual measurement yardstick. It is supported by Horwath HTL Asia Pacific, Green Key Global, Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office and Clean the World.
