In the Mood for Fashion, Film and Art at the ION Art gallery

This Fashion Season, ION Art gallery sets the mood with THIS IS ‘REAL’ A Wing Shya Retrospective.

Presented by ION Art and conceptualized by Shyalala, the exhibition is a collection of fashion spreads and cinematic direction by renowned Hong Kong-based fashion photographer Wing Shya.

Be it shooting the glossy pages of French Vogue, fashion spreads for Louis Vuitton or stills for film-maker Wong Kar Wai’s In The Mood for Love, Wing keeps it ‘real’ with his artfully captured shots. Step into Wing Shya’s world of fashion photography and explore notions of the sophisticated Asian spirit based on his reputable individuality. More than 200 visuals of 1920s old Shanghai orient and glamour, fashion shoots of high profile supermodels and actors like Shu Qi, Du Juan and Gong Li, photographic collaboration with famous Japanese Manga artist, Tatsuyuki Tanaka, and a video projection I Myself Feel, will tell tales of love and lust, joy and loss, isolation and togetherness.

A multi-hyphenate who breaches boundaries, Wing’s vision extends beyond the realm of photography. His talent for light and shadows, and affinity with fantastical colours and imageries are just as fervently expressed through mediums spanning film art, album covers, music videos, and television commercials. Among his most renowned collaborators is film-maker Wong Kar Wai, for whom Wing was the exclusive set photographer and film collateral designer for Happy Together, In The Mood For Love, Eros and 2046.
