Press release -

SilkAir to Increase Fuel Surcharges

Due to the continued increase in the price of jet fuel, SilkAir will raise its fuel surcharge for all tickets issued on or after 21 April 2011 for travel on its flights.

The price of jet fuel is now above USD138 per barrel, which is the highest level in two years.

The following surcharges will apply for tickets purchased for travel on SilkAir flights on or after 21 April 2011. They represent an increase of between USD4 and USD12 per sector, depending on the distance and class of travel.

• Between Singapore and cities in South East Asia:
Business Class: to be increased from USD41 to USD47 per sector
Economy Class: to be increased from USD30 to USD34 per sector

• Between Singapore and all other SilkAir points:
Business Class: to be increased from USD110 to USD122 per sector
Economy Class: to be increased from USD96 to USD106 per sector

The application of fuel surcharges may be subject to regulatory approval or variation in some individual markets.

The adjustments will offer only partial relief of higher operating costs arising from increases in the price of jet fuel.

Like its parent airline, SilkAir will continue to monitor the price of jet fuel and keep the application of the level of fuel surcharge under active review.
