Press release -

Circle Line Power Cable Change-Out Works

SMRT will be conducting power cable change-out works on the Circle Line (CCL) on Sunday, 27 October, 2013.

From the commencement of train service to 10am, trains will be operating on a single platform between Labrador Park and HarbourFront MRT stations – thus, passengers are advised to make provision for an additional 10 minutes of travelling time along that stretch on Sunday 27 October.

Signs will be put up at the affected stations to inform passengers of the ongoing works. In-station announcements will also be made to keep all passengers informed. Station staff will also be deployed on ground to provide additional assistance where needed.

Changing the power cable on the CCL is necessary to minimise potential power outage, and to boost the reliability of the system. This cable replacement programme, which started in mid-January 2013, will be completed 18 months ahead of time; by the end of 2013.
