Press release -

Reminder: Train services between Admiralty and Jurong East MRT stations to end by 12.30am from 02 November 2014

SMRT would like to remind commuters that its train services will end 30 minutes earlier at nine North-South Line MRT stations, for five nights from Sunday to Thursday nights* from 02 November 2014 to end March 2015 (except for eve of public holidays). The nine stations are Admiralty, Woodlands, Marsiling, Kranji, Yew Tee, Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Gombak, Bukit Batok and Jurong East.

SMRT seeks the support, patience and understanding of commuters. The early closure will help enhance system reliability and offer smoother rides. Thirty minute-closures on weekday nights will enable SMRT to deploy equipment more efficiently to accelerate sleeper replacement works. It will also contribute to quicker implementation of other key projects such as re-signalling and third rail replacement.

SMRT has issued a service announcement through its corporate website and social channels on 27 October 2014, and is progressively distributing notification letters to residents living around the affected stations. Posters, brochures and flyers are also being displayed and distributed to raise awareness. From 31 October 2014, SMRT will be making PA announcements in stations and trains to remind passengers of the early closure.

From 02 November 2014 onwards, commuters who board trains after 11.15pm on the North-South Line are advised to plan their journey and consider alternative transport arrangements, such as bus services, to get to their final destination. This includes those on the north-bound train headed towards Jurong East, as well as those on the south-bound train headed towards Ang Mo Kio. To help plan their journeys, commuters may refer to the Land Transport Authority’s Public Transport@SG site, http://www.publictransport.sg.
