A boat is one of the most expensive items that an individual purchases in his/her lifetime. Hence, it is imperative that it is stored properly, when not in use. For most homeowners, it is not possible to store boats in their home garage as they occupy a lot of space. In such scenarios, keeping a boat in storage facilities in Singapore is a viable option. So, when you are planning to keep your boat in a storage unit, follow these tips to make sure that it does not get damaged in the storage unit

  1. Oil and filter: An engine is the most expensive part of a boat; hence it needs maximum maintenance. Before keeping the boat in a storage unit, change the oil and filter after cleaning the engine properly.

  2. Engine: There is a risk of engine getting frozen due to external weather conditions. Hence, it is advisable that the fluid of the engine cooling system should be drained completely, and then filled with anti-freeze and water solution.

  3. Batteries: If the batteries are plugged to the engine for a long duration when not in use, they stand a chance of getting damaged and discharged while kept in a storage unit. Hence, it is advisable that batteries are detached from the terminals and anti-corrosion liquid is sprayed on it. If possible, keep charging the batteries once in a while to keep them in a running state.

  4. Life Jackets: Detach seat covers and life jackets from the boat as they stand a chance of getting damaged due to humidity and heat.

  5. Boat tank: Empty and dry the boat tank and take care of it with deodorizing solution.
