Tech Storm Announces Technology Partnership with NTU, appoints SingTel’s former CTO as Technology Advisor and Erin Lim, Benjamin Kheng as Celebrity hosts

Singapore, 6th April 2015: The world’s largest consumer technology and entrepreneurship media platform Tech Storm; joins forces with Nanyang Technological University-NTUitive Pte Ltd (a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Nanyang Technological University) on a technology license agreement giving Tech Storm access to NTU’s proprietary automatic content recognition (ACR) technology.

Tech Storm is the first licensee in Singapore to adopt NTU’s proprietary technology which detects connected mobile devices and delivers pre-embedded content to the users to better enhance their content engagement and depth of interaction. “We are pleased to have partnered with Tech Storm to co-develop and successfully commercialise this innovation from NTU”, said David Toh, Director and CTO of NTUitive Pte Ltd, the commercialization arm of NTU.

The ACR technology was developed and perfected by Assistant Professor Yonggang Wen and his team at School of Computer Engineering, NTU. It allows mobile users to recognize content on larger screens and simultaneously pull companion content to mobile devices associated with the viewers. The invention outperforms competing technologies in a few fronts, including recognition capacity, resistance to ambient noise and other physical impairments.

The licensed technology will be embedded on Tech Storm’s original production titled Storm Bytes premiering its maiden episode on Playmoolah a Singapore based financial literacy start-up. Sitting In Pictures Pte Ltd, an award-winning production company is commissioned to produce Storm Bytes hosted by celebrity Erin Lim a Los Angeles talent and Benjamin Kheng a Singapore artiste.

The network announced its appointment of Lee Lup Yuen as its Technology Advisor commencing immediately, Lup Yuen was formerly the Chief Technology Officer of Singapore Telecommunications’ (Singtel) L!feLabs the innovation and partnership arm of Singtel based in Singapore. “I am very happy to join the Tech Storm team to share my passion for consumer technology with the rest of the world. Together, we will demystify the lingos in technology for consumers to appreciate the value and benefits of new technology infotainment.
