Types of Resilient Flooring Option in Singapore

In the early 2010s, click resilient flooring is launched in the Singapore residential and commercial market with it being an strong alternative to traditional laminate flooring due to its waterproof and termite proof feature. The click resilient flooring group category was further renamed into various names such as high end, premium, luxury resilient vinyl flooring and many more.

Then a few years later, taking into environmental and health safety issues, a new group of resilient flooring option, eco resilient flooring was introduced into the market. There are basically two types of click resilient flooring today, the conventional click resilient flooring and also eco resilient flooring. Here are the two types of resilient flooring in Singapore.

Conventional Clickable Resilient Flooring

The common properties of conventional clickable resilient flooring are as follows:

1) 4mm to 6mm thickness

2) Has a wear layer between 0.3mm to 0.6mm.

3) 100 percent Waterproof

4) 100 percent termite proof

5) Use a patented click system technology either Valinge or Unilin originated from Europe.

6) Has high level of slip resistance and impact resistance.

7) Able to be reuse when moving houses.

8) Has a ceramic beaded or other advanced coating technology which enhances UV resistance as well as scratch resistance of the flooring.

9) Test reports showing better air quality such as Floor Score, E1 rating on formaldehyde emission and other relevant reports.

Eco Resilient Flooring

Eco resilient flooring, which was introduced later, has the above 9 qualities of a quality clickable resilient flooring. Moreover, it has something more.

A1) Certified Eco Friendly – Most consumers may not realise that to be certified eco friendly, the flooring needs to be more than just tested for having better air quality. Other important factors to be certified eco friendly are the safety of the materials used to manufacture the flooring product and the recyclable property of the flooring. One credible certification is therefore the Singapore Green Label.

Understanding the Difference Between Conventional Clickable Resilient Flooring and Eco Resilient Flooring

Often, conventional clickable resilient flooring without being certified eco friendly is marketed as eco friendly product. Hence it is important for the consumers to check with the vendors before making their buying decision. Happy shopping!
