The Swedish Embassy in Singapore is pleased to present the art exhibition “A fusion of Sweden and Singapore” - a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the close and rewarding Diplomatic cooperation between Singapore and Sweden

Singapore 2016-09-20. Twelve pieces of art “A fusion of Sweden and Singapore” - made in collaboration between the photographer Anne Nyblaeus and artist Ingela Johansson presented at the “Sweden-Southeast Asia Business Summit” the 21-22nd of September held at Park Royal on Pickering.

In 2016 we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the close and rewarding bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Sweden. To commemorate this, Sweden presents an art exhibition in conjunction with the Sweden–Southeast Asia Business Summit. The exhibition includes work by the Swedish photographer Anne Nyblaeus in collaboration with Swedish artist Ingela Johansson. The exhibition shows twelve pieces of double mounted plexiglass frames with a photo on one side and a painted version on the other side in which Ingela has used acrylic and ink in her translations of the photograph into paintings.

”We are honoured to be invited to do this collaboration project that reflects the strong relationship between Sweden and Singapore, says Anne Nyblaeus, famous Swedish photographer. We wanted to express our love and fascination of Singapore and its beautiful people, culture and architecture.”

Anne Nyblaeus started to work as a photographer after graduating from Beckmans School of Art in Stockholm 1990. Anne has given out two coffee table books, and her current work is primarily published in European magazines, including portraits, interiors and food. In 2013 she moved to Singapore with her family for two years, and was before moving back to Sweden commissioned to make this exhibition.

Ingela Johansson has studied at American College for the Applied Arts in London and at Nordic Design School in Borås. Ingela has held exhibitions at the Nordic Museum in Stockholm and the textile Museum in Borås. Her silk paintings have also been exhibited at the Swedish Club in Paris. During 2014 – 2016, Ingela has had international exhibitions in Australia, Malaysia, Sweden, Italy and Singapore. Her art is found with collectors in 17 countries.

The art is to be sold at the Sweden Southeast Asia Business Summit.

The summit is a joint effort by “Team Sweden” in Southeast Asia, i.e., the Swedish Embassies, Business Sweden and the business associations and chambers in the respective countries.
