Taking Christmas to the children of the Philippines

Dec 24, 2013 11:21 SGT Save the Children (Asia) Over 1,500 Filipino children whose homes and communities were devastated in typhoon Haiyan are enjoying Christmas parties hosted by Save the Children. In and around the devastated city of Tacloban, seasonal events have been held at 27 child friendly spaces. While in Estancia, parties with games like pass the parcel were also arranged for typhoon-affected children.

One year on from Typhoon Bopha, families still reeling from loss of livelihoods, Save the Children says.

A year after the category 5 typhoon, the children’s aid agency says tens of thousands are still struggling to find work to feed their families. The Typhoon, which struck on 4th December 2012, affected over six million people and left nearly 2000 dead or missing.
