Mufti's Announcement on the Beginning of Syawal, 1432 Hrs for Muslims in Singapore

MUIS (Islamic Religious Council of Singapore)

Sep 06, 2011 09:32 SGT

Based on astronomical calculations, and in accordance with the criteria of the visibility of the crescent moon (imkanur rukyah) as agreed by the member countries of MABIMS, the new moon was at the horizon of Singapore for 6.2 minutes, after the sun set on the evening of 30 August 2011.

Thus, the first day of the month of Syawal 1432H falls on Tuesday, 30 August 2011

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Muslims “Selamat Hari Raya Eidul Fitri”. May Allah accept all our ibadah performed during the whole month of Ramadan and may He bestow long life to us till we meet again in Ramadan next year.

Dr Mohamed Fatris Bakaram

Mufti, Republic of Singapore
