Nordbygg a driving force in the industry

Nordbygg 2018 was a success - in many ways. But the Project Manager Peter Söderberg and his team are not resting on their laurels, but working full-time with the planning of the next fair. In the content mix for Nordbygg 2020, there is among other things a continued investment in innovation elements.

The Nordbygg concept has over time developed from being the Nordics’ most important construction and property fair to being a proactive actor contributing to the development with its own initiatives. One example of this is this year’s launch of Nordic ConTech.

– The construction and housing sector need a continued technical development and since Nordbygg has the advantage of being neutral, we can take initiatives that will benefit the whole industry. This says Peter Söderberg.

Modest stake that was a success

During this year’s fair, Nordic ConTech was an important part, the construction and housing sector’s platform for innovation and development, that chose Nordbygg for its launch. The launch program offered, as well as an exhibition, an extensive conference program and guided tours to selected exhibitors.

– We had a great response from visitors. We were rather modest about it and didn’t know how it would be received. Afterwards, we were so happy that we spontaneously hugged each other, says Daniel Dahlström at Svensk Byggtjänst, one of the initiators of Nordic ConTech. In addition to Byggtjänst, the Smart Built Environment project Bygg 4.0 is also behind it, with Nordbygg as sponsor.

Innovation arena

The digital ball is consequently seriously rolling and it will continue to do so. This means that when the fair returns in April of 2020, it will be even more about how new technology, current and upcoming, can contribute to the development of the industry.

– Our work is aimed at offering exhibitors and visitors a whole innovation arena, says Peter Söderberg.

Such an arena would speed up the development of an industry which traditionally is a bit slow in embracing news. And Nordbygg is, as the foremost industry fair, a given place to spread knowledge on new technical possibilities, stir curiosity and inspire with industry specific examples.

– Yes, I would gladly use Nordbygg to push it forward a little extra and contribute to a positive development of the whole construction and property sector, says Peter Söderberg.
