Cyclist seriously injured in Hove hit-and-run

A cyclist sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run in Hove.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred in Portland Road about 8.49am on Friday 22 March.

A white Mercedes Sprinter is reported to have overtaken the cyclist before immediately turning left into Rutland Road. The driver failed to stop at the scene.

The manoeuvre caused the victim – a 51-year-old local man – to fall from his bike, sustaining two broken elbows.

Police have conducted enquiries in the area but have so far been unable to trace the driver of the van.
