Man attacked outside East Grinstead gym

Police are investigating an incident at an East Grinstead boxing event in which a man was hit by a catapult missile, and sustained a stab wound.

During the evening of Tuesday (30 July) a boxing event was taking place at Warriors Gym, Imberhorne Way, East Grinstead, when an altercation between two men started inside the premises and then spilled outside. At that point another man, aged 46, was hit on the arm with what is believed to be a ball bearing fired from a catapult and received a stab wound to his back.

The victim made his own way to hospital where he was treated for his injuries which were not serious.

The man who fired the catapult is described as being of mixed race, about 20, 5'9", with short black hair., and had an Irish accent He was topless but was wearing black jogging bottoms.
