Data Breach Figures Rising, Increasing the Need for Data Erasure

London, UK, The year of 2013 has so far come with an array of high profile data breaches, ranging from IRS leaking 100,000 social security numbers on a government website, to the NHS receiving an £200,000 data breach fine due to nearly 3,000 patient records being found on a computer bought from an online auction site. 

Both examples are evidence of a security issue in which needs to be addressed by organisations in order to protect personal data.

According to Ponemon’s 2013 Data Breach Report its stated that almost 66 percent of data breaches are a result of human or system error. This identifies the fact that human error is responsible for a numerous amount of individuals personal information falling in to the wrong hands.
