It is time for researchers within dentistry to prepare their applications for funding from the Eklund Foundation in 2019. The application period starts on 1 April and the last day of submission is 31 May. Experimental and clinical studies within all fields of dentistry are welcome, but projects that can be related to periodontology, implantology, or cariology will be prioritised.

The 2018 Eklund Foundation Scholarship for the promotion of odontological research at Malmö University is awarded to Dr Yohei Jinno. Joel Eklund, Chairman of the Eklund Foundation, delivered the scholarship of SEK 150,000 (approximately EUR 15,000) at the Malmö University Conferment of new doctors and inauguration of new professors in Malmö Live Concert Hall, 19 October.

On 17 January, Malmö’s largest solar power plant was opened at TePe Munhygienprodukter AB. The plant, installed in collaboration with E.ON on the rooftop of a TePe factory building, enables the energy produced on site to be used directly in the manufacture.

The Eklund Foundation was established in 2015 to support research and education in the odontological field. TePe has signed an agreement with electric services company E.ON on a record large solar cell plant in Malmö. On a roof area of approximately 2600 m2, solar panels with a total power of 244 kW and an estimated production of approximately 220,000 kWh/year will be installed. The solar cell plant will be the largest in Malmö.
