CAST 2014: August 11-13, New York, Kimmel Center
The CAST Overview
CAST, the conference initiated by The Association for Software Testing, is held by testers for testers. Therefore, it is a perfect place for every person associated with software testing activity to raise their professional education level as well as get much hands-on experience. Every year at the event you’ll see they touch upon many urgent issues for the whole QA community and provide quite satisfying solutions to them.
This August at CAST
CAST in NY this August was fully focused on ‘the art and science of software testing’. The mathematical and physical aspects of QA blended with communicative skills, psychology and other soft sciences in multiple outstanding lectures by respected QA professionals who kept the event’s productive level high. Every presentation had two parts: the lecture itself and questions from the audience. This is during this latter part the participants has found answers to many important questions they had on testing.
The event also had two parts:
- On 11 August the visitors had interactive tutorials throughout the day. Each tutorial was presented by a person who is the leader in the field of their presentation. This activity was aimed at improving the understanding of testing methodologies among the participants.
- August 12 offered visitors a lot of lectures, studies and much expertise sharing opportunities. Many noted this part was to them as useful as seven years of university.
The BugHuntess Team’s Takeaway
The atmosphere of learning and sharing in the air was almost so thick one could even feel it. There was almost no aspect of current QA which was not raised and discussed there. Everybody without doubt learned much new for them at CAST this August. The magic of cooperation, education and sharing worked everywhere from the CAST halls to eating places. What actual value this participation gave BugHuntress, is the practical use of these activities. Rumor says, its participants gained a chance to see Jessica Alba live in Soha and almost received her autograph.
