AdSpruce® unveils industry-first solution to deliver VAST-compatible video ads to any mobile device

Press Releases   •   Sep 12, 2013 10:44 BST

AdSpruce upgrades its unique Native Ads Server to incorporate VAST-compatible tracking and reporting for video advertising on any internet-enabled mobile device.

London, UK – AdSpruce, the mobile video ad network, has announced an upgrade to their proprietary Native Ads Server that allows video advertisers to use VAST-compatible tracking on any internet-enabled mobile device.

An impressive development in its own right, the Native Ads Server is a unique end-to-end mobile video advertising solution for smartphones, multimedia phones and feature phones that allows AdSpruce to inject, track, deliver and click-enable video advertisements. The addition of VAST compatibility allows advertisers to run video campaigns with tracking and reporting in line with the standards and guidelines set out by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).

For advertisers this industry-first technology presents an opportunity to pursue mobile video advertising campaigns with the levels of robustness, reliability and transparency that had previously been reserved to desktop computing.

Discussing the new development AdSpruce CTO Gary Hockin said, “It was of paramount importance to us to create a solution that delivered reach at scale but without compromising on metrics. We know that campaign statistics are critical in understanding the success of a campaign which is why our VAST-compatible pre-roll offers transparent and concise reporting for brands and agencies.”

For advertisers, however, this technology presents the first real route to market for customer and revenue generation through performance-based video advertising campaigns on feature phones, a lucrative market which still accounts for a very high percentage of mobile phone users. A study by Gartner recently estimated that worldwide feature phone sales totaled 264.4 million units in the fourth quarter of 2012, outperforming smartphone sales of 207.7 million. According to the IDC (International Data Corporation) worldwide shipments of smartphones and feature phones in 2013 will be on almost equal standing, with 49.9% of shipments being accounted to feature phones in Q1.

The majority of these feature phone users are situated in the emerging markets (such as the BRIC countries). Through AdSpruce advertisers can now focus on growing sales in these unsaturated markets with full tracking, reporting and accountability.

AdSpruce CEO Ian Mullins talks about the importance of feature phones, “There is such a high focus on smartphone targeting right now, but for us at AdSpruce being able to reach and track video ads on feature phones was of principal importance due to the sheer volume of the audience size. Using our technology, brands and agencies can now create a campaign and receive smart and insightful reporting from any internet-enabled mobile device included in the campaign target; this is an immense step forward for the mobile advertising industry and we’re proud to have pioneered it.”

AdSpruce currently delivers over 100 million video advertising spots every month and has a rapidly growing network of premium video publishers. To find out more about the AdSpruce’s VAST-compatible pre-roll advertising you can visit the website at www.adspruce.com

AdSpruce® Unveils Industry-First Mobile Video Advertising SDK for Mobile Web

Press Releases   •   Sep 11, 2013 13:31 BST

London, UK – AdSpruce, the mobile video ad network, has just released their Software Development Kit (SDK). Developed in stealth for the last 18 months, the AdSpruce mobile web SDK enables the delivery and tracking of video advertising on any mobile device. Previously only smartphones could deliver video ad campaigns, but this industry-first technology makes it possible to reach feature phones and allows advertisers to deliver clickable video ads to all kinds of mobile devices. AdSpruce’s technology covers all of the complexities associated with mobile video delivery such as wide variations in screen size, bandwidth and processors as well as operating systems. The latest solutions draw more and more users to mobile TV and video, opening new opportunities for advertisers to reach consumers through highly engaging video adverts.

The inclusion of industry-standard tracking and location-based delivery means that advertisers can benefit from AdSpruce’s technology break-through. Prior to AdSpruce’s development, robust tracking and reporting was only possible on smartphones, however, AdSpruce’s solution also includes delivery, tracking and click-through for feature phones. The AdSpruce Native Ad Server inserts ads into video content or before a video starts. This means that mobile video advertising can reach consumers when they are fully immersed in the viewing experience, enhancing brand recall and product knowledge.

Publishers will be able to insert AdSpruce’s SDK into their sites once they have signed up to the AdSpruce Publisher Network. AdSpruce will then serve targeted ads for their audiences helping them to generate revenue from traffic which was previously not monetised.

Whilst the feature phone market has previously played a minor role for advertising, largely due to technology constraints, AdSpruce’s new technology opens the advertising market up to an estimated three billion feature phone users. Smartphones may be on the rise but feature phone sales are still on a par with smartphone purchases as stats reveal that 49.3% of the 426 million mobile devices sold in Q1 2013 were feature phones. With AdSpruce’s mobile video solution the differences between smartphones and feature phones can be considered obsolete.

AdSpruce CEO Ian Mullins stated, “Feature phones provide a significant opportunity to reach a new audience in established and emerging markets. The AdSpruce mobile web SDK technology was developed to capitalise on billions of feature phones in use today and the increasing demand for video ads on any device using the mobile web. Until the development of the AdSpruce mobile web SDK, advertisers have been unable to deliver video ads to feature phones users and therefore publishers could not monetise all of their mobile web traffic. The AdSpruce mobile web SDK provides an effective solution to deliver ads to all mobile devices and eliminate these concerns.”

With a host of premium TV and video publishers currently signed up and hundreds of advertising campaigns delivered, AdSpruce is emerging as a leader in the mobile video advertising industry.

AdSpruce® brings their unique mobile video advertising technology solution out of stealth mode

Press Releases   •   Sep 09, 2013 11:36 BST

London, UK – AdSpruce, the mobile video ad network, has unveiled the Native Ads Server, a mobile video technology solution that is set to unlock mobile video advertising to a new global audience including the feature phone market.

Working in stealth mode for the past 18 months, AdSpruce has developed a first-of-its-kind industry-standards-compliant video ad server and location-based delivery platform. This unique platform allows AdSpruce to inject, track, deliver and click-enable video adverts on any device including low-end feature phones. For advertisers this provides a wide range of video advertising opportunities with sophisticated targeting capabilities to engage any customer segment in a non-intrusive way and the opportunity to reach emerging market consumers and deliver interactive ads.  For video content owners and publishers this allows for the monetization of video content and mobile web traffic on any internet-enabled mobile device.

With all of the hype and immense marketing budgets behind the latest smartphones it’s easy to forget the potential reach of the feature phone market when in fact of the 426 million mobile devices sold in Q1 of 2013 49.3% were feature phones. These feature phones, however, provide a significant challenge for the advertising industry, a challenge that has taken almost two years of research, development and stealth business for AdSpruce to solve.

AdSpruce CEO Ian Mullins discussed the beginnings of the company, “Over the past two years we’ve noticed a significant user demand for video on feature phones, but like others in the industry we were not able to monetise this traffic. We started R&D in 2011 to develop an ad server specifically optimised to capitalise on the billions of feature phones in use today.”

Through the Native Ads Server AdSpruce is able to deliver pre-roll video adverts to internet-enabled mobile device, allowing advertisers to target video advertising at global scale to devices that range from the latest Apple or Samsung smartphones to ten-year-old Nokia feature phones and multimedia phones.

With a range of big brand publishers and advertising campaigns under their belt AdSpruce is emerging as the clear front runner in the mobile advertising industry and leader of mobile technology solutions.
