Make 2017 A Happy Chinese New Year with Ramblers Walking Holidays

As roughly a sixth of the world’s population gets ready to celebrate the onset of the Year of The Rooster, why not make this the year you travel to China. According to Chinese astronomy, roosters are confident, the epitome of punctuality and reliability… great qualities for keen walkers who want to make the most of the day. They also tend to be active, healthy, and enjoy sports such as hiking and swimming.

Whatever sign you are in the Chinese zodiac, Rambler’s Walking Holidays offers a great opportunity to explore the exciting destination of Hong Kong from a new perspective. Whilst this Chinese metropolis is most usually associated with the vibrant city of Hong Kong itself, this 14 night holiday explores a different side of the region. With unspoilt hill country and outlying islands, the itinerary includes a visit to Lantau Island to find Tai O, a little village which seems to come out of the Middle Ages, as well as walking on car free Lamma Island.

Walks include the Ma Lam Wat Peninsula, offering great coastal views as well as the chance for a swim, as well as the Sai Kung Peninsula and Maclehose Trail, with wonderful views and some fine sandy beaches. There is also the ridge walk at Ma On Shan, with an optional extension to the summit at some 700m, as well as a walk to the iconic Victoria Peak to enjoy the stunning outlook across the harbour below. Departures in November and December 2017.
