Team Ski Austria have dusted off our boots, waxed up our skis and had a first taste of the winter 12/13 snow. We ascended the 1500m up to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier in Kaprun, where the snow was soft under foot and the sun was shining down on us.
After a bit of a slow start, we soon got back in to the swing of things, carving down the mountain, having fun and pushing our abilities to the max!
The great thing about glacier skiing is guaranteed snow 24/7 and it did not disappoint that day. Upper slope conditions were 110cm, with 20cm of pure fresh snow, and these are the general conditions at the moment of the glaciers in Ski Austria, including Sölden and Mayrhofen.
No ski day would be complete without sampling the local brew, a spice enhanced glühwein synonymous with Austrian ski holidays, and dancing the afternoon away to the uplifting beats of Austrian apres music.
But for now it’s back to work, counting down and preparing for our first customers arriving in to Mayrhofenand Obergurgl on the 15th December.
Are you going to be heading our way this winter? You really should!
Bye for now,
Terri, Jayne and James
