Press release -

A packed agenda for township forum meeting

Residents living in the north of the borough are invited to an open meeting to get involved with
discussions about tackling key issues within their neighbourhoods. The next meeting of the Ramsbottom, Tottington & North Manor Township Forum will take place on Thursday 7 March at Ramsbottom Civic Hall and starts at 7pm.

First item up for discussion on the agenda is the recent vandalism and anti-social behaviour on local buses, which could result in services being terminated in some areas. Representatives from First Bus will be highlighting the extent of the problem and aims to work with residents and councillors to develop a plan to tackle the problem.

Safety is also the theme of the next agenda item as there will be a presentation on the ‘Street
Safe’ initiative, a plan to introduce 20mph Speed Limits and Zones in residential areas and streets.

For residents in receipt of welfare benefits the next agenda item will hold the most interest as the council benefits team will be coming along to help make sense of the changes to council tax benefit, housing benefit (specifically under-occupancy), social fund and disability related benefits.

Finally officers will be describing how the recent improvements have started to make a difference
to Bury’s recycling rates and going through the next steps which will help the borough achieve its goal of reducing the rate further.

The usual open forum and public question time will be on the agenda in the second half of the
meeting. For further details contact: David Thomas, Township Co-ordinator, 0161 253 7455.
