Funding available for community groups to tackle Hate Crime

Local voluntary and community groups can apply for funding to tackle and raise awareness of hate crime.

Bury Community Safety Partnership is making a total of £10,000 available, with groups able to bid for up to £2,000 each for their project or event.

The projects are designed to complement Hate Crime Awareness Week, which runs from 5 to 9 February 2018.

The closing date for funding applications is 10am on Friday 12 January 2018. For details of how to apply and the relevant criteria, go to www.theburydirectory.co.uk/hatecrimeawarenessweek

Councillor Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for communities and safer neighbourhoods, said: “Anyone can be a victim of hate crime. As well as having a huge impact on the victim it can have wider consequences for communities. There are many organisations in Bury who do tremendous work in making our society a friendly and tolerant place, and I would urge them to apply for the funding by 12 January.”
