Get me Toasty - keeping you warm for free!

Press Release   •   Oct 29, 2012 14:37 GMT

Residents are being offered the chance to get their homes toasty with free cavity wall and loft insulation.

Anyone who owns or privately rents their property could be eligible for this insulation, which usually costs up to £350 each. You no longer need to be receiving benefits or be over 70 to qualify.

Bury Council is promoting the Get Me Toasty campaign, and this is the last chance to take up this offer – it is likely that all national grants for insulation will end in December, when energy companies will stop giving Carbon Emission Reduction Target (CERT) funding and the Green Deal is introduced.

  •   The free insulation offer is subject to the survey of your house, because not all properties are suitable, and is based on an average sized 3-bedroomed semi-detached house. If your property is larger than this, you will have to make a contribution towards the cost. If you require loft insulation, you need to have less than 60mm of insulation in place: if your loft has more than that, you will need to make a contribution towards the cost to have it topped up to the recommended depth of 270mm.

If you rent your home, please ensure you ask your landlord’s permission to have insulation installed.

To book a free ‘no obligation’ survey direct via the Greater Manchester Energy Advice Service, call 0800 009 3363 or visit www.getmetoasty.com
