Residents who are taking down their Christmas decorations are urged to recycle their real Christmas tree in their brown bin.
Don’t forget to remove all decorations, lights and the wooden base, then chop it up so it fits inside with the lid fully closed. Alternatively, take it to any household waste recycling centre in Greater Manchester.
Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, said: “There’s so much that we could recycle over the festive period – from drinks cans and leftover food to cardboard packaging. Where better to start than with your real Christmas tree? It’ll be turned into compost, and help something else to grow.”
