Radcliffe Summer Days of Play - town welcomes family events

Press release   •   Jun 21, 2019 11:48 BST

Bury Council and The Met, Bury, have teamed up to bring Radcliffe’s town centre to life with Summer Days of Play, a series of Saturday morning theatre, play and music events.

Perfect for kids aged 3-13 (but fun for all ages), each week will see a different activity come to Radcliffe’s piazza, making the most of the space in front of the bandstand and using a currently empty shop unit as a pop-up playground.

The themed fun – running from 11am to 3pm every Saturday from tomorrow (June 22) until Saturday July 27 -  includes theatre, circus skills and new musical instruments to master.

Summer Days of Play is part of the Radcliffe Regeneration project, a series of initiatives to breathe life into the town. These include on-street improvements, action on parking and improved CCTV security.

The hope is the summer events will capitalise on the success of the re-launched Radcliffe Market, which is bringing many more families into the town with its food and drink and entertainment offer.

Councillor Rishi Shori, leader of Bury Council and councillor for Radcliffe West, said: “With the Market, several brilliant local cafes and plenty of shops to check out, there are already lots of reasons to visit Radcliffe.

“These family-friendly events give people extra encouragement to come down and spend a few hours in Radcliffe town centre. With these events, and the overall regeneration project, we’re keen to cement its place as the heart of our community.”
