Bury residents are being reminded to ensure that their electoral registration details are up to date.
In the month after Bury Council sent electoral registration forms to more than 82,000 households, 39,000 have so far responded. This week reminder letters are being delivered to all households that have still not responded.
Mike Owen, Bury Council's chief executive and electoral registration officer, said: “Unlike in previous years, householders must respond to the form, either to confirm or change their details. It’s easy to reply online, by text, by phone or by simply by filling in and returning the form.
“Anyone who wants to vote must be registered. To make sure you are able to vote in any elections or referendums next year simply check the details on the form and return it as promptly as possible."
Those aged 16 and 17 can also sign up so they will be automatically eligible to vote when they are 18.
