CALM's November #BiggerIssues campaign with male grooming brand, Lynx, successful, raising awareness that suicide is the biggest single killer of men aged under 45 by a massive 45%. A YouGov poll in October 2015 showed that awareness stood at 20% of UK adults. The poll was repeated on 15-16th December revealing that awareness across the country rose to 29%.

With suicide biggest single killer of men aged under 45, MPs mark International Men’s Day with historic Commons debate; more than 30 suicide prevention charities urge Government to adopt four point plan; the charities are calling on the Government to overhaul how suicides are prevented in the UK and urge them to treat suicide as a major public health issue.

On 19th November 2015, an historic Parliamentary debate will be held in Westminster Hall. Male suicide is the biggest single killer of men under the age of 45. In 2014, 76% of all suicides were men. Without a revolution in attitudes towards suicide, treating it as a major public health issue, these figures are unlikely to improve. We propose four simple changes.
