COSTA LAUNCHES ITS COSTA ICE SUMMER CAMPAIGN

On May 2nd Costa Coffee launches its Costa Ice integrated campaign, comprising underground ads activated when the temperature reaches 22 degrees and a nationwide tour delivering complimentary Costa Ice around the country.

Formally known as Ice Cold Costa, Costa’s summer range of iced coffees, coolers and lemonades, will  re-launch under the new name of Costa Ice, using the campaign line ‘A refreshing hit of summer’ throughout in-store, ATL and digital communications.

The campaign is being supported by thermal activation ads, which will go live in underground stations on 14 afternoons throughout June and July when the temperature reaches 22 degrees. The brand will also be active on weather.com (desktop site, mobile site & app).

At the end of July the Costa Ice tour kicks off. In a specially revamped Costa Ice van, the vehicle will spend the school holidays touring the country giving out complimentary Costa Ice drinks at set locations in towns and cities across England, Scotland and Wales. Customers can also request full sized complimentary Costa Ice delivered to their homes or workplaces, via a request app hosted on the Costaice.co.uk microsite and promoted via Costa’s social media channels. 

Kevin Hydes, Director of Retail Marketing at Costa UK said:

‘Our focus for this year’s campaign is to educate consumers about the breadth of our iced drinks range and the difference between blended and over ice drinks.  Out of store, we are focusing on fun, eye-catching artwork to help make Costa synonymous with summer.’

Costa’s advertising is by Karmarama and the media planning and buying is through ZenithOptimedia.  The Costa Ice tour has been created and managed through PR agency Paratus Communications, with Fisher Productions organising tour logistics.
