Staycations are getting more popular every year, with the UK enjoying a £1.4billion boom to British tourism since the UK decided to “Brexit” last year. And with concerns over terrorism meaning that “safer” holiday destinations abroad are costing as much as 9% more, staycations are big news.
With this in mind, caravan insurance specialist Cover4Caravans.co.uk has carried out its own independent research* on staycation accommodation trends.
It found that 85% of Brits plan to enjoy a staycation this year, with caravanning being the third most popular choice of accommodation.
The study revealed that of the staycationers …
- 46% plan to stay in a hotel
- 15% will stay in a rented cottage / accommodation
- 12% will go camping / caravanning.
When asked all the reasons why they enjoyed caravanning ...
- 67% said the cost
- 50% said that they are great for kids
- 50% also said there is no airport hassle nor costs
- the freedom of the open road accounted for 28%
- 6% said there are less worries over terrorism.
Commenting on the study, Richard Burgess, Director at Cover4Caravans, said:
“It is little wonder that caravanning holidays are so popular – there is no limit to how much luggage you can take and no waiting around at the airport. Gone are the days of caravans being dingy and basic – today’s ‘vans are spacious and fully equipped with all the mod-cons. No wonder celebrities such as Rio Ferdinand, Beyonce and Eastender’s Phil Mitchell Steve McFadden are all rumoured to be fans.
“Plus, caravan parks are located in some fantastic areas around the country and have great amenities for all the family.
“We love the UK and have written a range of caravanning guides for different types of staycation holidays. You can read those popular guides here: http://www.cover4caravans.co.uk/articles/quick-guides”.
