Hospices receive a live video stream from the Pantomime 'Cinderella' this Christmas

A London Theatre will be streaming the pantomime ‘Cinderella’ to hospices across the UK live and for free this Christmas. This initiative is supported by DeadSocial and it is being rolled out nationally across the national network of hospices and hospice patient families via the umbrella organisations Together for Short Lives and the UK-wide charity, Help the Hospices.

There has been a great initial response from hospices across the UK. The Hospices below have now all been given access to stream Cinderella from the Broadway Theatre.

·  Richard House

·  St Josephs

·  Northern Ireland Children Hospice

·  Helen and Douglas House

·  Children’s Hospice South West

·  Claire House

·  Childrens Charity Scotland

The production will be streamed three times in total over December and January. The first performance was streamed on Thursday morning. The next two performances will be streamed live on Christmas eve at 4pm, and then again at 6pm on the 2nd January.

We encourage any other interested hospices or nursing homes across the country to get in touch

Chris Mellor (Barking Broadway Interim Creative Producer) says: I am is a passionate advocate of this technology as a means of reaching a much wider audience, both in the comfort of their own homes, but equally as powerfully in hospitals and hospices across the UK.

James Norris (CEO of DeadSocial) states "the main reason for this project is to bring pantomime often seen as a traditional part of Christmas to those who are not able to attend. By streaming the performances live to hospices we hope that those watching will interact in a similar way to the audience in the theatre. If residents, families and healthcare workers in hospices across the UK shout "it's behind you" loud enough the actors on stage may just hear".

DeadSocial is a social networking site launching early next year. It will allow people to have their end of life wishes met and to say the things that they may not have got round whilst alive to close friends and their wider friendship groups.

In April DeadSocial was awarded a final four position in The Next Web & Microsoft Bizspark’s ‘Startup Rally 2012’ in Amsterdam. It has attained mass interest within both within the healthcare sector and the media ahead of it’s upcoming release.

"Set up tweets or Facebook posts to be released at specific times after their death, perhaps on a particular anniversary, or after a fixed period" (Wall Street Journal).
