Jim Balsillie to Lead Canada Clean Tech Fund (Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg 25 June 2013)

Former longtime Research in Motion Ltd. BB.T Chief Executive Jim Balsillie is taking on a leadership role with a Canadian government-run clean technology fund. The Ottawa-based fund has invested 592 million Canadian dollars ($565 million) in 245 projects since it was founded in 2001. The Canadian government recently allocated C$325 million over eight years to the fund.

According to McKinsey & Co estimates, "meeting the future demand for steel, water, agricultural products and energy would require roughly US$ 3 tn average capital investment per year". This is US$ 1 tn more than spent in recent history.
