Junior Netball Sessions

As part of their ongoing commitment to the Healthy Borough Initiative East Staffordshire Borough Council’s Sport Development Team are continuing their successful junior netball sessions. Sessions start back on Thursday 1st May and will continue up to Summer Holidays. Junior session for those in school years 7 – 10 will take place between 6pm and 7pm and a new High 5 Netball session for those in School years 4 – 6 will take place between 5pm and 6pm. Both sessions will take place at Shobnall Leisure Complex on the Netball Courts and cost £1.00 per session.

The high 5 sessions gives every child the chance to experience and enjoy every position, as well as off-court roles. It boosts fitness and adaptability and provides a great social framework for players to strengthen friendships.

The Junior Netball session encourages young people wanting to learn how to play the game, and involves fun practices, coaching drills giving participants an opportunity to learn the rules of the game improve and develop their skills through weekly training sessions and games. 

New participants are welcome to join both sessions there is a real mix of ages and ability attending the sessions. We’ve had some people who had play in school and some who just want to learn a new sport. All of the players have done really well and have progressed over the sessions, and I’m looking forward to developing their skills further, and working with new players”.

Back 2 Netball sessions will also be taking place at Abbots Bromley School for anyone over 16 years wanting to return to the sport or start playing netball. The session will take place every Wednesday 7.00 pm – 8.00 pm, starting Wednesday 30th April, Cost £1.00. Players do not have to have any
experience of the game or worry that they are letting the side down; it is just a fun session that aims to get more people playing sport, while improving their health and fitness. The coach will introduce a new
skill each week followed by a friendly game at the end of the session.
