Animal magic has taken over The Brewhouse Arts Centre this summer

Press Release   •   Jul 10, 2013 16:05 BST

The latest exhibition ‘Interconnections’ by John Rattigan, from Doveridge, features various bird and
monkey motifs in interlocking forms. The pieces are fun and colourful, playful and yet serious, complex yet simple. They have a strong graphic quality, rich colours and unashamed decorative elements.

In recent years anthropomorphic aspects have crept into John’s work, especially in the monkey and bird series; where each bird or animal takes on human characteristics; some looking angry or melancholic while others look joyful or mischievous.

Councillor Bernard Peters, Deputy Leader for Service Commissioning, said: “The exhibition we’ve brought to The Brewhouse offers a mixture of art and craft that’s unique and high quality but also fun,
enjoyable and affordable. With prices starting under £10 for some of the craft pieces, people can get something that’s a little bit different and support UK makers too.”

Why not drop in and see a film or show and take in the exhibition at the same time. The Brewhouse now has a weekly cinema club with screenings on Friday evening’s that cost £3 or £2 concessions. On Friday 12th July we will be showing ‘Cirque Du Soleil’ from 7pm and on Friday 19th July we will be showing ‘Identity Thief’ which also starts at 7pm.

The exhibitions run from now until 10th August 2013, The Brewhouse Arts Centre opens 9.00am till 8.00pm Monday to Saturday. If you would like more details on these exhibitions or our cinema club please contact us on 01283 508100.
