Join a Sky Ride Local in East Staffordshire and continue the cycling legacy

Press Release   •   Aug 01, 2013 10:54 BST

Have you been inspired by Team Sky’s victory at the Tour de France? This summer is it’s all about cycling. As the 100th Tour de France ends in glorious triumph for Team Sky, cyclists across the globe have been inspired by Britain’s Chris Froome to explore life on two wheels.

The Tour de France, steeped in tradition and prestige, is one of the most eagerly awaited cycling events on the sporting calendar. If Team Sky’s ‘Dazzling performance’ in the Tour has inspired you todust off your bike and go for a ride, British Cycling and East Staffordshire Borough Council have got lots of easy ways for you to get pedalling in East Staffordshire this summer.

Sky Ride Local rides are free bike rides organised and guided by friendly British Cycling-trained Ride Leaders who are happy to provide advice, encouragement and support along the way. And the good news is you don’t need to be a Tour de France pro to take part!

Councillor Bernard Peters, Deputy Leader for Service Commissioning, said: “As “Le Tour” ends for another year, it’s now easier than ever to get out on your bike in East Staffordshire and join a great local route. Rides range from ‘easygoing’ to ‘challenging,’ so whether you aspire to be the next Chris Froome or simply prefer to take things at a gentler pace, there’s something for everyone”.
