Rounders Young Leaders Award

Press release   •   May 20, 2014 16:45 BST

To continue its successful participation in the Healthy Borough Initiative East Staffordshire Borough Council, Burton and South Derbyshire College and Rounders England are working together to promote Rounders in East Staffordshire.

East Staffordshire Borough council in partnership with Burton and South Derbyshire College have received funding from Rounders England to develop a variety of activities across the Borough with projects including, Rounders Young Leaders Award (RYLA) and Community Rounders Sessions.

The Rounders Young Leader Course is aimed at students in Year 9 and over, who are 14+ years old and who have completed a minimum of 1 module of the Sports Leader Award. The award enables Young Leaders to lead Rounders sessions in the presence of a suitably qualified coach or teacher. Participants also receive a Preliminary Umpire Certificate. They will also have the opportunity to develop their skill in the community.

The RYLA is a great opportunity for the young people of East Staffordshire and will increase the number of people playing Rounders in the community.

Community Rounders will also be taking place in June at Shobnall Leisure Complex. For further information or to register your interest, please contact Patricia Newman, East Staffordshire Borough Council on (01283) 508191 or email
