Remember a loved one this Valentine's Day

We’ve collaborated with British jewellery designer Katie Mullally who has designed an exclusive charm in support of ellenor to keep the memory of loved ones no longer with us, close to our hearts. Our ‘ellenor kiss’ charm is the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day to remember a loved one. The charm is available in two sizes in both yellow gold plated and 925 sterling silver – it is our familiar ellenor kiss on a round circle, and can be worn on either a necklace or bracelet.

We spoke to Katie about why she has chosen to support ellenor and what jewellery means to her.

Q: What does jewellery mean to you?

A: Jewellery represents you as a person, it is something to be enjoyed, and an emotive gift to yourself or someone close to you. Each piece has a story for the wearer; they remember when they received it, who it was from, and the reasons behind it.

Q: What do you think is the enduring appeal of your jewellery?

A: I feel very lucky to be able to create pieces that give so much enjoyment to the wearer – an emotional connection and sometimes a direct connection to family history. The story behind them is key. As the charms are all cast and hand finished in the UK they feel different from most jewellery. There is a weight and depth you don't normally get with new jewellery.

Q: Can you tell us why you chose ellenor as your charity partner?

A: Working and living in Kent, ellenor has always been my local hospice, and I feel that all businesses should support charities or help people in some way.

Having watched the TV series ‘The Hospice’ in Summer 2018, I was touched by the compassion and dedication shown by all members of ellenor’s staff to patients and their families – and it was only when I was talking to my friend further that I learnt about the breadth of ellenor’s work and how much they have to raise each year to provide their care for free.

I was looking for a local charity that I could work with – and ellenor seemed the obvious choice. Helping patients, carers and families facing terminal illness is vitally important and I hope that through my work I can help ellenor raise the much-needed funds to continue their vital support network which makes a lasting difference to so many adults and children across Kent.
