BBC cameras have been at ellenor Gravesend today as part of the launch of Sport Relief 2016 to find out how the money has been spent that it donated to the charity to fund part of its counselling services. The BBC spoke to Jacquie Hackett, ellenor’s Director of Patient Care and to Janet Gilbert, one of the charity’s counsellors.
Janet’s husband was a patient of ellenor and she benefitted from counselling the charity provided to her after his sudden death. Following her positive experience of counselling, Janet has trained as a counsellor herself and is now working with ellenor families.
As a charity, not part of the NHS, ellenor needs to raise £6.7 million a year to continue supporting families facing terminal illness.
