Support ellenor on our Challenge Trek to China

ellenor, the only charity in Kent providing hospice care for people of all ages – babies, children and adults - in their place of choice, and Children’s Hospice at home is urging people to sign up to a challenge of a lifetime and trek across the Great Wall of China.

Emma Bowles, ellenor Senior Events fundraiser says: “We are incredibly excited to be hosting this once in a lifetime challenge; trekking along the Great Wall of China, one of the 7 wonders of the new world, is an opportunity many are never able to achieve, so we are delighted that so many supporters have chosen to take on this iconic bucket list challenge in aid of ellenor”.

The trek takes the Gubeikou to Simatai route, which features some of the most stunning views of the wall and the surrounding rolling hills. Trekkers will hike through remote villages and towns, meeting local residents along the way, finishing with a visit to the famous Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City.

Nicole Kennelly, ellenor Palliative Care Staff Nurse has joined up to the Charity challenge and says: “It’s my first solo trip without family and friends, my first long distance trip in years, and of course trekking the Wall will be the most physically demanding thing I’ve ever done! I’m incredibly nervous, but even more excited.

The trip which includes the Great Wall of China Trek takes place from 19 – 27 October 2019. Registration closes on 11 January 2019
