Lights, camera, action! Exodus introduces UK landscape and wildlife photography workshops

Following the success of its worldwide photography holidays, Exodus is enabling budding photographers to refine their skills closer to home with a series of new UK landscape and wildlife photography workshops. With multiple dates available, these workshops will visit three of the RSPB’s most spectacular reserves in the South East: Dungeness in Kent, Pulborough Brooks in Sussex and Rainham Marshes in Essex.

Combining classroom learning with hands-on tuition, the workshops will be instructed by award winning photographer and tutor Dave Stephenson, whose wildlife and travel images have been published all over the world, and whose work takes in everything from big cats to huge primates, small lizards and everything in between.

Rainham Marshes, Essex – an urban oasis

Where industry, history and biodiversity meet – Rainham Marshes is a former World War II rifle range and now a refuge for wildlife on London’s doorstep. More than 270 birds of prey and rare birds have been recorded on the site, and in spring, the air is filled with birdsong as they compete to establish territories. 31 species of butterfly and rare species of dragonfly accompany a resident population of water voles in this extraordinary reserve.

Workshops take place 19th April, 28th May and 28th June.

Dungeness, Kent – wild, weird and wonderful

Dungeness has a very unusual landscape. It is Britain’s only desert and one of the largest expanses of shingle in the world. With over 600 types of plant, Dungeness is one of the best places in the UK to find insects such as moths, bees, beetles and spiders, some found nowhere else in the country. The reserve is also a major arrival and departure point for migrating birds such as Sand Martins and Willow Warblers in spring and Redstarts, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, and Pied Flycatchers in winter.

Workshops take place 23rd April, 10th May and 2nd June.

Pulborough Brooks, Sussex – rivers, downlands and woodlands

Pulborough is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) featuring woodlands, wetlands and historic heathland. The reserve is located within the South Downs National Park, offering far-reaching views over the Arun Valley. Visitors might catch a glimpse of the world’s fastest bird - the peregrine - as it stoops from the sky, and be astounded at the sight and sound of thousands of wild ducks, geese, swans and other waders.

Workshops take place 15th June, 5th July and 9th July
