With three different light distributions – medium, wide and asymmetrical – and three light outputs of up to 20,000 lm, Excis LED can easily be adjusted for the required function.
”The demands on the sports facilities of today vary widely.. We have made the range expansive for this reason, with three different outputs for each of the three distributions, you can tailor the light to a specific application, for instance using the asymmetrical distribution for racket sports like badminton and Tennis. Optimising your system with a smart and smooth lighting control with DALI also makes it easy to pre-install lighting scenarios for different sports and activities, which adds the flexibility” explains Product and Application Manager Håkan Sehler
Excis LED has also been adjusted to provide optimal conditions for filming.
We have reduced the risk of flickering in TV broadcasts as far as possible through our choice of diodes, drivers and amplitude dimming, among other things. If high demands are established in advance, it is also possible to top up the luminaires with a higher level of colour reproduction in the diodes. When filming, a higher lighting strength than normal is always required in sports halls, regardless of whether the material is intended for simple streaming or for a TV broadcast. Light control is therefore always recommended.”
By replacing the traditional protective grating with a clear acrylic reflector, the development team has created an extremely energy-efficient LED luminaire that is also aesthetically appealing.
“We have focused on the bottom line. Excis LED is a cost-effective investment that is realistic for everyone. The luminaire meets the UGR requirements for glare and lighting comfort in sports halls while also being very powerful. This means that fewer luminaires are needed – sometimes just a third of the number required when using conventional T5 luminaires. Excis LED is also lightweight and very quick and easy to install, which reduces installation costs still further.”
Once in place, Excis LED is safe and maintenance-free. The luminaire meets the stringent requirements for ball tests, VDE 0710-13. This means that it can withstand 36 hits with a handball at 60 km/h (61 joules) from three different directions. The acrylic sheet also stops loose objects, such as shuttlecocks, from getting stuck in the luminaire – safely and neatly.
