Mega success for The Oumph! Banger at Vegovision

Last weekend award-winning Swedish brand Oumph! launched their new sausage at Swedish vegan show Vegovision in Stockholm. The Oumph! Banger was an instant success with visitors, and was so sought after, that long queues quickly formed, with fans keen to taste a sample.

The Oumph! Banger is set to launch in the Nordic countries in spring 2020.

"We have been working for some time to create a plant-based sausage that can compare with any premium sausage on the market. A good sausage should have all the attributes one expects from a premium sausage: great taste, a good casing, good consistency and a well-balanced smokiness", says Hans Mathiason, Head of Taste and Texture at Food for Progress, the company behind Oumph!

Swedish top vegan bloggers Amelia and Emma from Vegansk matlåda tasted Oumph! The Banger. Their verdict is:

”This sausage is definitely a game changer! There is no compromise with taste and texture, and we're impressed with the sausage skin. We welcome amazing new products like this in the supermarkets, as it's important to making plant-based alternatives more attractive to consumers".

The Oumph! Banger is made from soya beans. It has a smokiness which means it works just as well as a hotdog, or in pasta dishes and stews. The sausage casing is made from algae and has the 'snap' you'd expect from a good sausage.

Oumph! The Banger is suitable for frying, cooking in the oven, barbecuing or grilling on an open fire.

Victoria Norviit, Brand and Category Manager at Food for Progress comments:

"Quite honestly, at Food for Progress, we were tired of plant-based sausages that don't have the expected high standard, and this is why we developed Oumph! The Banger. For us it's not enough that vegans will choose this banger over other competing brands - our aim is to reach the growing number of flexitarians and meat reducers. We're convinced that Oumph! The Banger will do just that."

The Oumph! Banger is set to launch in the Nordic countries in spring 2020.
