Double honours for Southern at Golden Spanner awards

Southern has won two awards at the recent Golden Spanners awards, sponsored by Modern Railways.

Southern’s Class 377/6&7 series trains won a Silver Spanner for the most improved reliability of new generation electric rolling stock, with its fleet of Class 171 diesels winning a Bronze Spanner for lowest delays per incident in the new generation diesel rolling stock category.

Engineering Director, Gerry McFadden said: "I'm delighted that the reliability of our fleets have been recognised by the industry in this way and is a testament to the hard work our maintenance teams have put in to make these fleets something we can all be proud of."

Both fleets are maintained at Southern’s Selhurst train care depot.
