CCTV images released after donations worth £9,000 stolen from Aldershot community centre

CCTV images have been released after £9,000 worth of donations were stolen from a community centre in Aldershot.

Detectives have issued the images as they would like to speak to the people pictured.

The appeal comes after the Buddhist Community Centre, in High Street, was targeted by distraction burglars on November 15.

A total of seven people walked into the centre at around 5.15pm, six started talking to people, while one searched different rooms of the building.

When they had all left, just before 5.30pm, it was discovered that money and other items had been stolen.

This included a suitcase containing £9,000 worth of donations, along with $1,000 and personal documents.

DC Dan Leese said: “We know that this theft has caused a lot of distress among the local community and we are doing everything we can to bring those responsible to justice.

“As part of our investigations we have analysed CCTV from the area and we are keen to speak to the people pictured in the images we have issued today.

“Do you know them? Did you see anyone similar hanging around the area that day?

“We believe they will have information that will help our investigation, so if you think you recognise them, let us know.”
